ASHULIA, DHAKA DIVISION, BANGLADESH – OCTOBER 14, 2026 39-year-old Jamal Uddin died after falling from the roof of an eight-story building belonging to the garment company Sharmin Group in the Narsinghpur area. Based on surveillance footage, police preliminarily believe that the man jumped on his own, but his family claims that he may have been the victim of a crime.

- His dead body
Jamal Uddin worked as a senior merchandiser. According to his wife, Sabikun Nahar, he called her on the evening before his death and spoke about problems at work. He was allegedly afraid that someone might blame him for something he had not done. His brother, Iskandar Ali, also claims that Jamal was physically humiliated in front of his colleagues on the day of his death.
Police stated that the footage shows Jamal sitting on the edge of the roof. When a cafeteria employee approached him and urged him to climb down, the man fell. After he was taken to the hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.
On October 15, Iskandar Ali filed a lawsuit against the company’s managing director, Ismail Hossain, and his son, Sharaf Hossain, who serves as a director at the company. Both are accused of allegedly abetting suicide. The family suspects the factory’s management of attempting to cover up the actual circumstances of the death. The investigation is ongoing, and the available information does not yet confirm that it was a murder.
