LIMA, PERU – OCTOBER 7, 2026 63-year-old Marcelino Llacchua Pacco, a former member of the Peruvian National Police, was shot dead during an attempted robbery in the San Martín de Porres district in the northern part of the city.
The man was cleaning his red SUV outside his home at the intersection of Avenida Tantamayo and Avenida Los Sauces when a gray car pulled up beside him. Two armed men got out, pointed their guns at him, and attempted to steal the vehicle. Marcelino Llacchua Pacco initially moved away but then returned with his firearm and began shooting at the attackers.
A shootout followed, during which the former police officer sustained several gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The perpetrators fled, leaving the van behind. Police subsequently secured the area and launched an investigation. Investigators are analyzing security camera footage and gathering additional evidence that could help identify the suspects.
Marcelino Llacchua Pacco served in the Peruvian police force for more than 30 years. After retiring, he worked in the security and transportation sectors. His family is now demanding that everyone involved in the attack be apprehended.
