RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – JANUARY 21, 2024 Sérgio Rodrigues da Costa Silva, better known as Sérgio Bomba, was executed at the Recreio dos Bandeirantes kiosk. The hitman approached him unnoticed and killed him with a shot to the head in front of his girlfriend.

Sérgio Bomba was considered one of the top leaders of the gang that operates in the Sepetiba neighborhood in the western part of Rio de Janeiro. They are involved in extorting residents and merchants, but have also been responsible for several thefts and kidnappings.
The police have commented that based on their monitoring of gang activity, they believe this was a murder due to a turf war.
