JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – DECEMBER 24, 2022 On Christmas Eve, a massive gas tanker explosion occurred in the South African capital. The explosion tore the roof off a local hospital, destroyed two houses, several cars and injured bystanders within a 500-metre radius of the blast.
As a result of the blast, 18 people died on the spot. The total number of casualties, however, rose to 40. The driver of the truck carrying the gas canister was acquitted for lack of evidence.
The first video shows the horrific aftermath, with a man holding a camera walking among the dead and seriously burned people. The second video shows the explosion itself from two perspectives.
