CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA – FEBRUARY 16, 2025 Nicolás Loases, 35, was a police sergeant and, in his personal time, a car thief.
He robbed a woman at gunpoint of a white Chevrolet Prisma in the Nuevo Poeta Lugones neighbourhood. But the woman had a GPS locator in her car and guided police to the vehicle in the Talleres neighborhood.
The police surprised the robber, and he made a run for it, but was cornered. Rather than be caught and arrested by his own colleagues, he committed suicide and shot himself in the head.
He was still alive in a vegetative state for several hours but later died in hospital.
If you’re thinking about suicide, please stop and recognize that your pain is not permanent, but this step would be. It may feel like there’s no other way, but there is hope, even if it’s hard to see right now. Your feelings are temporary, and with help, they can pass.
Talking about what you're going through might feel difficult, but it’s the first step toward healing. Don’t turn away from the people who want to support you. Life can offer more than what you're feeling right now, and the pain doesn't have to last forever. You deserve help, and it’s available.
