ITABUNA, BAHIA, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 23, 2025 On Rua Floresta Street, in the São Caetano neighborhood, a fatal head-on collision occurred between a motorcycle and a school van. The incident happened when the 36-year-old motorcycle rider, Ana Lúcia dos Santos, suddenly crossed into the opposite lane.
Ana was thrown by the force of the impact and suffered severe injuries, including a head injury that proved fatal. She died shortly after the crash, before emergency responders arrived.
Although the victim was wearing a helmet, it did not withstand the impact and fell off her head. If you ride a motorcycle, always buy only high-quality gear and use it properly. With a certified helmet, this would have been very unlikely. A difference of a few dozen to a few hundred dollars invested in quality motorcycle gear can mean the difference between life and death.
