Haitian gang beheaded well-known blogger and her mother

ARCAHAIE, HAITI – OCTOBER 24, 2024 Francesse Déralin was a 22 year old and quite famous blogger. She was born into a poor family, but her mother Virginiemène did her best to raise her as best she could despite the extreme conditions. They lived in an area ravaged by gangs and constant violence.

When Francesse became more famous, the gangs saw it as very risky. They were probably afraid that she would reveal their identities and other confidential information. They therefore took the brutal step of breaking into the house where Francesse and her mother lived together. They were both murdered. They cut off Francesse’s and her mother’s heads and impaled the heads on the fence outside their house as a warning.

Haiti is currently plagued by enormous gang-related violence and corruption. It is almost certain that this crime has also gone unpunished.
