HAITI Woman posted a photo of the mistress of the leader of the 400 Mawozo gang on social media without permission. For this, she faced a cruel punishment, as gang members dragged her to a remote location, stripped her down to just her underwear, and used a machete to chop off part of her arm. According to the video, it appears that they were also preparing to sever her other limbs. Whether they actually did so remains unknown.
400 Mawozo is a Haitian armed criminal gang that operates mainly in the Croix-des-Bouquets area and around the capital, Port-au-Prince. Their practices include kidnappings, armed attacks, murders, and territorial control. It is widely considered one of the most brutal gangs in the country.
Haiti is often described by many as a country of misery and devastation with no future. Gangs control more than 70% of the capital and a significant portion of the rest of the country as well. Robberies, kidnappings, and murders occur daily. The situation there is so serious that the United States has issued Haiti its highest travel advisory, Level 4 – Do Not Travel.
