They spent a relaxing time together at her home on Magdalena Zapata Street until Jonathon’s troubled friend known as El Gato came over. The two of them smoked large amounts of mariuhana together and planned some Christmas robberies. For the occasion, they made a homemade single-shot pistol.

When Eduany saw this, she urged them and begged them not to do it. She probably tried to confiscate the pistol from them and was shot and fell dead to the ground. They tried to revive her and moved her body to the bed, but all efforts were futile. It is not confirmed whether she was shot deliberately or accidentally.
El Gato fled the scene while Blanco called the police and confessed to them to the unintentional murder of his ex-wife. Despite his good intentions, he was given an additional 15 years in prison due to his criminal history.
