JALAPA, GUATEMALA – APRIL 26, 2018 Luis Recinos and his wife, the newly 33-year-old Wendy Sucely Cordero, spent the entire afternoon together at the spa to celebrate her birthday. In the evening, they moved on to a bar in the San Francisco neighborhood where they had a few drinks.
It’s unclear exactly what happened between them, but the couple apparently had an argument. This resulted in him pulling out a gun and shooting his wife 4 times: Once in the thigh, twice in the stomach and once in the face. Luis then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
Several witnesses said Luis said before the shooting, “This is your last birthday you’re alive.”
All of their friends were left shocked by the incident. Wendy and Luis were said to have been a happy and well-adjusted couple. They left behind three children, ages 15, 10 and 5. Luis worked as a teacher in various educational institutions.
