Lucinente Terto da Silva Costa was left unconscious and bleeding heavily after the attack. Cícero Araújo Chaves subsequently apparently believed that he had killed his wife and hanged himself inside the house. His body was later found by neighbors.
Lucinente Terto da Silva Costa was taken to Socorrão Hospital in Presidente Dutra in critical condition.
