HELIÓPOLIS, BAHIA, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 18, 2024 October 18, 2024 will go down in black letters in the Brazilian annals as yet another case of school shooting. The massacre took place at Primary School D. Pedro I Municipal School in the small town of Heliópolis, a rural area of Bahia state about 210 miles (340 km) from Salvador.
Samuel Santana de Andrade
Samuel Santana de Andrade, 14, was a gregarious and very gifted boy. He excelled in his studies and stood out for his creativity and theater acting. There was no indication even that day of what he was about to do. He pulled out a gun during art class and started shooting in the air. This caused a commotion during which he started shooting at his classmates. He killed three of them. He then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

The victims were two girls and one boy, identified as: Adriele Vitória Silva Ferreira, Fernanda Sousa Gama, Jonathan Gama dos Santos, all aged 15. Some reports state that all three were friends of his, so it is possible that this was a resolution to some feud between them.
