MEXICO Members of a Mexican drug cartel killed their rival during a brief shootout in the jungle. But his death was not enough for them – they also beheaded him.
Such behavior stems not only from a complete lack of respect for human life, which cartel members certainly possess due to daily exposure to violence, but also from the desire to intimidate their enemies through acts of extreme brutality.
Sobering reality is that every individual who purchases drugs, especially cocaine, indirectly supports these atrocities. Cartels use such violence to assert power and control while meeting the demand for drugs in importing countries like the USA and the European Union.
