CULIACÁN, MEXICO – FEBRUARY 4, 2024 Mayra Michelle, 26, and Ernesto Alonso, 27, were a couple on the missing persons list after they disappeared without trace on February 1. 3 days later they were found martyred south of Culicán.
Ernesto’s body bore signs of torture and he had been shot through the head. Mayra was still alive. She had 3rd degree burns over most of her body and two gunshot marks in her legs. She was taken to the intensive care unit but died the same day.
The method of execution used on Mayra is considered one of the most painful and cruel ever. It is called “necklacking”. A tyre soaked in petrol is put on the victim and set alight. The victim feels and senses the pain all the time until the 3rd stage of burns, when all nerve endings are destroyed.
On February 16, the police tracked down and caught the 5 perpetrators who carried out this horrible act. They were men between the ages of 19 and 30. They are believed to have worked for the Sinaloa cartel, but this information is not confirmed. The media also published their names: Juan José ‘A’ (known as El Cuco), Angel Noé ‘F’ (known as El Niño), Franklin Manuel ‘G’ (known as El Franklin), Jorge Alejandro ‘M’ (known as El Chavalito or El Yosh), and Jesús Alberto ‘M’ (known as El Especial).
