MACAPÁ, AMAPÁ, BRAZIL – SEPTEMBER 27, 2026 38-year-old military police major Anderson Leite Rodrigues Fernandes was shot outside a bar on Avenida Padre Júlio. He was off duty at the time of the incident. The conflict began inside the establishment and then continued outside, where a shootout took place between the major and a group of prison police officers.

A security camera captured part of the incident. According to the footage, Anderson Fernandes threw a beer bottle toward the group of men during the argument. He then took cover behind a car with a pistol in his hand, and the shooting began. After being shot, Fernandes fell to the ground, where one of the men approached him and, according to the footage, fired at him several more times. The exact sequence of the shooting and the responsibility of the individual participants are under investigation.
Four prison police officers turned themselves in to police in connection with the case: Wilson Pontes Neto dos Reis, Sérgio Ricardo da Silva Guerra, Uzias Palmerim de Santana Júnior, and Márcio Douglas Morais Amanajás. Three of them were later released, while Uzias Palmerim remained in custody on suspicion of being the person who fired the final shots at the wounded major.
