LAS CAÑAS, GUAYAS, ECUADOR – FEBRUARY 11, 2025 Mother and daughter became victims of a brutal murder in their home in the canton of Lomas de Sargentillo. They were identified as Sandra Briones Burgos (mother) and Michelle Cabrera Briones (daughter). Michelle was found dead inside the house on the floor. Her mother managed to crawl out to the street, where she sought help from passersby. She was taken to the hospital but later also died.

Another person was present at the scene, identified as Jhon Cabrera. He tried to stop the attack but was injured.
The attacker was detained after the act by local residents and handed over to the police. He was a local resident known to suffer from multiple mental health issues. The police are now trying to investigate the exact motives behind this horrific crime.
