Motorcyclist dies after head-on crash into concrete pole

MANAGUA, NICARAGUA – SEPTEMBER 24, 2026 28-year-old Eliseo Josué Velásquez Picado died several hours after being seriously injured in a traffic accident. The crash occurred in the Pedro Joaquín Chamorro neighborhood near the Julio Buitrago overpass.

Velásquez Picado was riding his motorcycle southbound when, for reasons that remain unclear, he lost control, left the roadway and slammed head-on into a concrete pole. The impact was captured by a security camera.

The motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Antonio Lenín Fonseca Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. Despite medical treatment, he died in the early hours of the following day. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
