JOÃO PESSOA, PARAÍBA, BRAZIL – SEPTEMBER 12, 2026 Off-duty military police officer intervened against two men who attempted to rob a jogger. A security camera captured two men on a motorcycle approaching the jogger, with the passenger pointing a gun at him. During the robbery, the officer intervened and ordered the suspects to surrender. One of the men then pointed his gun at the officer, who opened fire.

The passenger was shot and died at the scene, while the motorcycle driver fled. A firearm was found on the dead man, and police also recovered a gold chain and a cell phone belonging to the robbed jogger.
According to the police chief, the available footage shows that the officer acted in legitimate defense of a third person. Police are continuing to search for the second suspect.
