PONTES E LACERDA, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 7, 2023 A 61-year-old man was shot in the stomach while attempting to attack Civil Judiciary Police delegate Lícia Juliane Paiva in Pontes e Lacerda. The incident, captured on surveillance cameras, occurred after the man tampered with an unmarked Civil Police vehicle.
Paiva, armed with a gun, confronted the man, who ignored orders, assaulted her, and attempted to seize her firearm. A physical struggle ensued, resulting in a gunshot to the suspect’s abdomen. Bystanders restrained him until the Fire Department arrived. The man is stable in Hospital Vale do Guaporé. Deputy Paiva suffered injuries but has been released after hospital treatment.
