CĂLĂRAȘI, ROMANIA – OCTOBER 22, 2023 21-year-old woman and her two female friends, a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old, were traveling together in her BMW. The car belonged to the 21-year-old, but she let her 19-year-old friend drive. She wanted to impress how fast she could drive and revved the car to a speed of almost 143 miles per hour (230 kph). Near the entrance to the town of Călărași she skidded, hit a gravel road and the car was thrown into oncoming traffic, where it hit a bridge pillar head-on.
The 21-year-old owner was thrown out of the car on impact and died on the spot. The 19 year old female driver and 23 year old female passenger were transported to the hospital in critical condition and it is unclear if their fight for life was won.
Some reports say a man was traveling in the car with them. Some say the 23-year-old female passenger worked as a police officer in Bucharest.
