TEHERAN, IRAN – JANUARY 9, 2026 At the end of December 2025, massive anti-government protests erupted across Iran and continue to this day. People are fed up with the theocratic and authoritarian regime, which brings nothing but fear, hyperinflation, economic sanctions, and social oppression.
Iranian authorities responded harshly, drawing worldwide criticism. Security forces acted with complete disregard for human rights, and there have been reports of live ammunition being fired at protesters, including children.
Some international human rights organizations claim that the number of victims of the regime could have reached as many as 30,000 to date. However, these figures are very difficult to verify, as the regime cut off the entire country from the internet in an effort to suppress the truth. Evidence leaves the country only slowly due to the information blackout.
One of the victims of the protests is said to be a man from Tehran. Iranian security forces allegedly attacked him with a machete, striking at his head with the clear intent to kill. He had no chance of surviving the intensity of the attack. Among other injuries, he suffered an open head wound exposing his brain.
