TRAMANDAÍ, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 26, 2025 Nine-year-old girl was found missing in the basement of a grocery store in the Parque dos Presidentes neighbourhood. The suspect in her abduction is the 61-year-old owner of the store. He allegedly lured the girl inside on the promise of a free popsicle.
The girl disappeared the day before from a plaza near her home where she had gone to play with other children. When she didn’t return home, a very intense police search began.
Ironically, it wasn’t the police who found her, it was her father, by complete coincidence. He went to buy some groceries and noticed how nervous the clerk was. Plus, he had a scratch on his nose and the music was very loud in the store. The father gave the echo to the police, who analyzed the security cameras, which showed the girl going inside the store but not coming out again.
When the police arrived at the scene, they heard a child screaming from the basement and the girl was rescued. She was not physically harmed in any way except for psychological harm.
The incident raised the ire of the locals who dragged him out and lynched him to death. They beat him with sticks and even threw stones at his head. The police tried to disperse the mob but they could do nothing to stop the lynching.
It was later found that the perpetrator was not a saint. He had criminal records for drug trafficking, battery, murder of several women and theft.
