CÚCUTA, NORTE DE SANTANDER, COLOMBIA – SEPTEMBER 28, 2026 Security camera captured a tragic collision between two motorcycles in which one of the riders died. The accident occurred in the afternoon on Calle 15 between the Boconó and Policarpa neighborhoods. 37-year-old Franklin Esteban Montoya López was riding a motorcycle when he collided head-on with another motorcycle that was entering the road from Calle 14.
The impact threw both riders off their motorcycles. Franklin Esteban Montoya López suffered a serious head injury and died at the scene. The other participant, whose identity was not released, survived with minor injuries and abrasions.
According to all available information, Franklin Esteban Montoya López was not wearing a protective helmet at the time of the accident. It could likely have saved his life.
