ANDRÉS ELOY BLANCO, LARA, VENEZUELA – AUGUST 13, 2021 Diagnosed with schizophrenia, 22-year-old Jose Vicente Aguilar took the opportunity early in the morning while his family was still asleep. He took a machete and murdered them all in their sleep by cutting off their heads. Jose then began carrying their bodies out of the house and into a wooded area. But the neighbours noticed and detained him until the police arrived.

The victims were identified as: 56 year old Antonio Vicente Aguilar, father; 52 year old Reina del Carmen Manzano, mother; 30 year old Yanny Carolina Aguilar, sister; 20 year old María Isabel Aguilar, sister.
One of the sisters was reportedly pregnant. Jose testified that he murdered them because he was angry with them. Neighbors said the family was partly to blame. They said they knew very well that Jose suffered from schizophrenia, but they did not address it and did not take him to the doctor regularly.
