SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – DECEMBER 28, 2025 In the southern part of São Paulo, a tragic case occurred at the end of December 2025 that investigators say was sparked by jealousy. Twenty-one-year-old Geovanna Proque da Silva is accused of intentionally chasing the motorcycle of her boyfriend, 30-year-old Raphael Canuto Costa, and then crashing her car into it at high speed. Both Raphael Canuto Costa and 19-year-old Joyce Corrêa da Silva, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, died in the incident.

The tragedy occurred in the Campo Limpo neighborhood. According to witnesses, Geovanna Proque da Silva had argued with her boyfriend earlier because he attended a barbecue where other women were present. During the night, she allegedly sent him messages filled with jealousy and threats. One of the last messages reportedly read: “Either you solve it, or I will.” When she later saw Raphael Canuto Costa riding a motorcycle with Joyce Corrêa da Silva, she drove after them.
Investigators state that a chase lasting approximately half a kilometer followed along Professor Leitão da Cunha Street. Geovanna Proque da Silva allegedly pursued the motorcycle at high speed and then intentionally rammed it. The impact was so severe that both young people suffered fatal injuries at the scene. According to the police report, their bodies became trapped in the wreckage. A bystander was also injured during the incident and suffered a head injury.

After the crash, the woman fled the scene, but shortly afterward she became ill. Police located and detained her. She was then taken to a hospital with superficial cuts to her neck and wrists. According to authorities, she was arrested at the scene of the crime, and her detention was later converted into pretrial custody.
