MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN, MEXICO – FEBRUARY 9, 2026 Twenty-five-year-old Hortensia Guardado Sánchez suffered serious injuries after, according to witnesses, she ran into a busy road in what appeared to be a suicide attempt and was struck by a passing vehicle.
The incident occurred on Paseo de los Leones Avenue, where the woman was seen near the roadway before the accident. According to available information, a police officer tried to move her away from danger, but she then entered the traffic lanes, where she was hit by a car.
After the impact, she suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she remained under medical care. The female driver of the vehicle was investigated after the crash, but according to available information, she was not prosecuted for the incident after surveillance footage and other evidence were reviewed.
