CARUARU, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL – JULY 14, 2015 In the rural area of Caruaru, specifically in Taquara de Baixo, the corpse of a teenage girl was found. It was clear at first sight that she was the victim of murder. Her throat was deeply slit and there were several other stab wounds on her body. Large pools of blood at the scene suggested that she had been murdered in the same place.

Police asked concerned citizens in the area if they could help them identify the girl. But none of them recognized the victim.
It took several days to identify her. She was identified as a 16-year-old student. Her parents last saw her when she went to the gym for her martial arts class, as she did every week.
The motive for her murder was never determined. She was supposedly a completely trouble-free girl. She stayed miles away from drugs and crime.
Different sources differ on her age, giving a range of 15 to 20 years. But the most credible and updated sources say she was 16.
