IZMIR, TURKEY – JANUARY 31, 2024 At the end of January 2024, a tragic event occurred in the Turkish city of Izmir when 19-year-old Delil Aysal shot and killed 44-year-old taxi driver Oğuz Erge during a ride. The incident took place late at night when the taxi driver, who was finishing his shift, agreed to give the young man a ride to keep him from waiting in the cold. The passenger, seated in the back, shot the driver three times through the seat at the end of the trip. He then robbed the driver of his phone, headphones, and money before fleeing the scene.

The event was captured on the car’s dashboard camera, which helped authorities quickly apprehend the suspect. The taxi driver was gravely injured and died shortly afterward in a hospital.
