FUNDACIÓN, MAGDALENA, COLOMBIA – JUNE, 2025 Two elderly women, Mabel Ponce and Geo Martínez Barsinilla, were sitting together on the porch of a home in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, enjoying a conversation as neighbors often do. Suddenly, a group of armed men stormed the area and opened fire without hesitation. The women were completely defenseless and had no time to react.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the brutal attack, and the shooters’ motives remain a mystery. What makes this case especially disturbing is that it targeted two elderly women – something extremely rare in this type of violence.
