GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR – JUNE 10, 2025 Two men became targets of an armed attack near the Jardines de Esperanza cemetery. They were driving in a car when unknown gunmen fired a burst of bullets at them. Both died at the scene.
The attack took place in broad daylight at a time when the cemetery was crowded with visitors. The entire bloody scene shocked everyone.
Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador, has been struggling with a wave of violence closely linked to drug trafficking and gang wars for some time. Shootings, murders, and public executions have become a common part of life in certain neighborhoods. The police have not yet stated who is responsible for the attack, but it is very likely to be another chapter in the ongoing conflict between criminal groups fighting for control over key areas of the city.
