PONTIANAK, WEST KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA – AUGUST 18, 2026 At around 1:30 p.m., a tragic accident occurred on Jalan Ya M. Sabran, in which a motorcycle carrying three 15-year-old students collided with a truck. All three students attended SMAN 1 Sungai Ambawang.
According to police, the motorcycle skidded while going through a curve, fell onto the road, and then slid toward an oncoming truck. In the collision, Muhammad Fatir Nazim Ramadhani and Samir Nasri Siregar suffered severe head injuries and died.
The motorcycle’s rider, Hadhran Mujaddid, survived the crash but suffered injuries to both thighs and was taken to RS Medika Djaya hospital, where he received treatment. According to the school, none of the three was wearing a helmet while riding.
Unfortunately, this is another in a series of tragic accidents in which a properly worn and secured helmet could have helped save lives. No matter how short the journey, don’t forget your helmet every time you get on a motorcycle. You never know when an ordinary ride can turn into a tragic accident within seconds.
