ĐĂK MIL DISTRICT, ĐẮK NÔNG, VIETNAM – MARCH 10, 2025 10-year-old girl, a grade 4 student at a primary school, was crossing the road after school with two of her classmates to buy a drink. At that moment, a truck carrying construction materials hit her and amputated her leg.
The girl received immediate first aid and was taken to health facility in Tây Nguyên. However, her leg could not be reattached despite the doctors’ best efforts. The truck had completely crushed it.
The victim’s mother said she usually picked up her daughter immediately after school. However, she was late that day and the accident occurred while waiting for her mother.
The incident in Vietnam has sparked a discussion about traffic safety at primary schools to prevent similar tragedies in the future. However, some responsibility must also be placed on parents. It is very important that the child is aware of when he or she is allowed to cross the road.
