ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA, USA – APRIL 8, 2024 44-year-old Amy Jaeger reacted somewhat impulsively when her 70-year-old boyfriend told her he wanted to end their relationship and was canceling their planned vacation. She grabbed a knife and stabbed him. Fearing for his life, he ran to a neighbor’s house. She tried to break in and finish him off, but fortunately, she did not succeed. During this, a police patrol arrived at the scene.
Amy had no intention of surrendering to the police and did not respond to their commands. Instead, she swung the knife dangerously around her. A deputy sheriff fired 11 shots from his service weapon, though it is unclear how many times she was hit. Both were transported to the hospital. Amy was in critical and life-threatening condition, while her boyfriend was out of danger.
