JIPIJAPA, ECUADOR – JULY, 2025 Young man and woman traveling on a motorcycle were murdered on the road leading from Jipijapa to Chade. Witnesses stated that they saw armed men stop the motorcycle and fire several close-range shots. The attackers then fled the scene.

The young man, who was driving the motorcycle, was shot in the torso and head. The young woman was hit only once – directly in the head.
Later investigation revealed that the two did not know each other. The man earned extra money by transporting people on his motorcycle to support his family. The woman had paid for his services. Police are still unsure who the intended target was or what the attackers’ motive might have been. A robbery is also being considered as a possible explanation.
