NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA – SEPTEMBER 13, 2026 Two 24-year-old people died after being struck by a southbound No. 4 subway train near the Spring Street station in Manhattan shortly after 3 a.m.
Security camera footage and videos recorded by witnesses captured the man and woman sitting on the tracks facing the approaching train. The train operator attempted to stop the train but was unable to prevent the collision. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not yet been released. The man was from Sayreville, New Jersey, while the woman was from Dayton, New York.
Investigators are now trying to determine why the pair was on the tracks and whether they had consumed alcohol before the incident. There were no signs that they had been pushed onto the tracks or accidentally fallen onto them.
