The body of a young woman was found near the hospital. An autopsy revealed a cervical laceration and a retained placenta. The cause of death was given as post partum haemorrhage.
Investigation revealed that the woman had undergone a home birth less than 24 hours earlier with the assistance of two unprofessional women. They were unable to extract the placenta, so a friend took her to a private clinic. There, however, she received poor treatment and was only given an injection. She passed out in the back seat of the car on the way home. Her boyfriend was too afraid of the consequences so he dumped her dead body at the hospital.
