AGRA, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA – SEPTEMBER, 2026 17-year-old Shivam Savita died after police intervened during his friend’s birthday celebration. Shivam was attending the celebration with approximately 30 to 35 other young men near Kanchanpur and KL Garden. When police officers arrived at the scene, the group began to disperse.
According to Shivam’s family, he fell onto the road while fleeing and was injured, but then continued running and fell into a nearby canal. Police deny that he was among the young men who were detained and say it is unclear where he went after the incident. His family reported him missing on September 15, and his body was found the following day in a canal near Dhanauli police station. An autopsy determined drowning as the cause of death.
The circumstances of the fall and any potential responsibility on the part of the police officers are under investigation. The family claims that police officers chased Shivam while he was fleeing and failed to provide him with assistance.
