RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – AUGUST 14, 2025 28-year-old Eweline Passos Rodrigues, better known by her nickname “Diaba Loira,” became involved with organized crime and gangs in Rio de Janeiro. Unlike many who are recruited as teenagers from troubled backgrounds, she voluntarily joined a gang at age 24 after leaving her physically abusive husband and moving from Santa Catarina to Rio, where she had previously led a normal life.
In Rio, she joined the notorious Comando Vermelho (CV) gang, quickly rising to become one of the key figures in their drug operations. She sometimes shared snippets of her criminal career on social media, proudly posing with weapons and mocking authorities to provoke the public.
In 2025, she likely made the decision that would cost her life: she left CV and joined the rival gang Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP), sparking a major conflict with her former allies. Some sources even report that a bounty was placed on her head.
On August 14, she was found dead on a street in the Cascadura area, with a close-range gunshot to the head in an execution-style killing. Her body showed signs of brutal torture. Some reports indicate that CV sent an entire armed squad into TCP territory specifically to kill Eweline.
The story of Eweline Passos Rodrigues serves as a warning about the dangers of organized crime and violence. Her life demonstrates how traumatic experiences can lead to decisions with far-reaching consequences. While her death was tragic, it is a stark reminder of how dangerous involvement in criminal organizations can be and how difficult it is to escape their influence.
