LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA – JULY 10, 2025 In the southern part of LA, in the Hyde Park neighborhood, police from the Gang Enforcement Detail spotted two men arguing. When their argument escalated into a physical fight, they decided to intervene. Upon arriving at the scene and exiting their vehicle, one of the men pointed a gun at the officers. This prompted their immediate response and they fired live rounds.
The suspect was hit multiple times and died at the scene before paramedics arrived. He was later identified as 63-year-old James Tullous.
The suspect’s family sees the entire situation as an injustice. They even started a public GoFundMe campaign asking for money for his funeral. They state that James L. Tullous Jr. was a father, grandfather, and a well-known figure in the local community. As of today, they have raised over $4,500 of the $5,500 goal.
