BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA Group of Venezuelan immigrants violently attacked a Colombian student near the Calle 45 TransMilenio station. They wanted to rob him of his phone, but the student refused to hand it over. They surrounded him in a circle and kicked him on the ground as a group.
When the Venezuelan economy collapsed around 2014–2015, deep economic and social problems began to erupt. This forced millions of people to leave their homes and triggered one of the largest migration crises in South America. Many of them headed to Colombia. Although nothing is black and white and many Venezuelans managed to adapt to conditions in foreign countries, many others continued to face poor living conditions even after migrating. Some of them turned to crime.
