BALAKOT, MANSEHRA DISTRICT, PAKISTAN – MARCH 2, 2026 During the evening breaking of the fast (iftar), Jawed Mahandri, a well-known content creator on the TikTok platform, was shot. According to the investigation, Mahandri was hit by gunfire opened by a police officer in the Boli area. Although the TikToker was immediately transported to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The death of the young man immediately sparked massive protests. An enraged crowd of local residents attacked the police station in Balakot, which they subsequently set on fire, and also destroyed a police vehicle. Protesters also blocked the main road leading to the Kaghan Valley. Police confirmed that the suspect officer has already been arrested and an intensive investigation is underway to calm the tense situation in the region.
