CUNHA PORÃ, SANTA CATARINA, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 27, 2017 Three sisters – Julyane (23), Rafaela (15), and Fabiane Horbach (12) – were brutally murdered in a knife attack that took place in their own home. The horrifying event stunned the tight-knit town of Cunha Porã in Brazil, where the tragedy hit especially hard due to the community’s close personal ties.

The sisters lived together with Julyane’s husband, Gilvane Meyer, who was also attacked during the incident. He survived by pretending to be dead and later helped authorities identify the suspect.
The killer, 24-year-old Jackson Lahr, was the ex-boyfriend of Rafaela and the father of her child, whom she had when she was just 14. After learning he had been unfaithful, Rafaela ended the relationship and denied him contact with their child. This appears to have triggered his desire for revenge.
Jackson was captured and confessed to the crime. He was sentenced to 101 years in prison for the triple femicide and remains incarcerated to this day. The case stands as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and obsession.
