CHENNAI, TAMIL NADU, INDIA – JULY 13, 2025 Famous Indian stuntman, 52-year-old SM Raju, also known as S M Mohanraj, died while filming an extremely risky scene for the movie Vettuvam.

He was performing a jump with an SUV over a ramp, but due to the high speed, the vehicle flew much higher than expected, crashed hard onto the ground, and flipped over onto its roof. The crew immediately rushed to the accident site, but there was nothing they could do. Raju was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to his death, the police filed a complaint against the director, Pa Ranjith, and other crew members, including actors, for negligent homicide. However, the director stated that all strict safety measures had been followed.
