DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN, USA – JANUARY 25, 2025 It was early Saturday morning. The young couple was still asleep in their bedroom in their home in Dearborn Heights, a suburb of Detroit. Suddenly, 24-year-old Benjamin Nevers was awakened by loud noises. It was burglars breaking in and capturing their boyfriend, who was sleeping on their living room couch after they returned from a vacation together in the Bahamas.
Benjamin quickly realized the seriousness of the situation and reacted very quickly. He grabbed a gun and opened fire the moment the robber opened the door to their bedroom. But the robber was also armed and a shootout ensued.
Benjamin was shot in the leg and received a splinter fracture. His girlfriend was also hit and can be heard wailing in pain from the video. But the robber fared much worse. He barely staggered out of the house and fell to the ground. He’s been identified as Phillip Price. The other suspect has not been caught.
Fundraiser has been set up on GoFundMe to help the couple cover their medical expenses. His girlfriend suffered damage to one kidney. Benjamin will be unable to work or pay regular bills during his recovery.
