ZAMBOANGA, PHILIPPINES – JANUARY 6, 2017 In a remote area of Lunzuran, the dead and half-naked body of a young woman was found. She was soon identified as Erica Jean Calunod Rosal, a 20-year-old Education student at the State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST). A subsequent forensic examination of her body confirmed that she had been raped.

Erica was last seen on January 4th by her father. Some of her friends claimed that she was still reachable online on the evening of January 5th. On January 6th, she was found dead.
