Elite police investigator assassinated by hitman

CARTAGENA, BOLÍVAR, COLOMBIA – FEBRUARY 7, 2025 Targeted attack occurred in which Francisco Javier Bertel Pérez (40), a member of the elite investigative unit DIJIN, was murdered. The killing took place early in the morning near the CAI Ceballos police station while the officer was traveling in his vehicle.

According to available information, two armed men on a motorcycle approached his car. The passenger then pulled out a firearm and fired several shots directly at Bertel Pérez. Most of the shots were aimed at the upper body and head, causing fatal injuries. The attack happened very quickly and bore the hallmarks of an execution carried out by hitmen.
