The attack was probably directed only at the teacher Paola Ruiz Ramírez, who was the daughter of the deceased journalist Jorge Alberto Ruiz Chávez, who published reports on the activities of the drug cartel. According to unverified information, the infamous Sinaloa cartel is responsible for the murder.
