MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – SEPTEMBER 8, 2017 Fátima Altamirano Coca, 15, was a student at La Salle High School. When she was on her way to school with her father on 8 September 2017, they were ambushed by a group of armed men who kidnapped Fátima.

Her father immediately alerted the police, who began a search that unfortunately ended tragically. Her dead body was found with her hands tied behind her back in a sewage canal in the district of La Paz.
Further police investigations revealed that the motive for the murder was revenge from Fátima’s ex-boyfriend. He was in prison and often sent her threatening letters that he would kill her if she stopped having a relationship with him. He allegedly coordinated the murder from his prison cell.
There are some sources that state that an ex-boyfriend of Fatima’s mother was responsible for the murder, but this information could not be verified.
