LUDHAURA, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA – OCTOBER 15, 2026 Manoj Gautam (35) was attacked by a group of people near the village of Ludhaura in India’s Sitapur district. While returning from a local market with his ten-year-old daughter, Sandhya, he was surrounded by the attackers on National Highway 30, who began brutally beating him with sticks. The man suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead after being taken to the healthcare center in Kasmanda.
According to police, the attack was likely the result of a long-standing dispute between two families. Manoj Gautam had also filed a complaint against the other party in 2019 under a law protecting members of disadvantaged castes. The day before the murder, the two sides clashed again.
Police have detained four suspects in connection with the murder: Shubham Singh, Dhirendra Kumar Singh, Kalpana Singh, and Sunita Singh. The investigation is ongoing.
