The victim was identified as 61-year-old producer Erol Köse’nin. A farewell note was found in his apartment in which he stated that he was ill with ALS. He reportedly saw death as a form of relief.
The farewell note
ALS is an abbreviation for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, an incurable disease in which nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord gradually die. This leads to severe muscle weakness and a complete loss of mobility. The progression is often rapid, with a typical life expectancy of 2 to 5 years after diagnosis.
